The weird character alignment chart in ruin

So at the start of security breach ruin there is what looks to be a character alignment chart graffiti one the wall next to more graffiti saying “I spent the night here and lived”

I have not seen anyone talk or theorized about these (and I personally can’t think of any meaning behind it) but I thought it’s be fun to take a closer look and see what names are on it

First of: the chart itself

There are 4 categories(? Idk what to call them) if the chart

“Wizard” (at the top)

“Cryptid” (at the bottom)

“Filled with anxiety” (to the right)

The last one is covered by vanny graffiti but from what I can see says filled with [short word that ends in y] (my best guess is either funny or agony)

Onto the names

There are 7 names that I could find some more readable then others

First (and most notably) is Mike placed between “cryptid” and “filled with anxiety”

Then a name just above Mike with an arrow pointing at the “filled with anxiety” line

It seems to start with a C or a G and end in y, at first it looked like Cassy but the more I looked at it I could see it being other names like Gary Gray or again Casey

Closer to the middle but between “wizard” and “filled with anxiety” is a name partly covered by a broken heart graffiti

It seems to say either Lina or Dina as the first letter is unclear (notable this name has a heart draw in front of it)

Right next to “cryptid” but on the “filled with [obscured]” side is a much clearer name

Cedar

Next is a longer name that I honestly have no idea what it is

It seems to start with a V had a J or G closer to the end and seems to end in sus?? Yet again have no idea what name this could possibly be but it’s right underneath “filled with [obscured]”

Another one that a can’t tell what it is, it seems to start with a G the next letter is obscured and then a g? Then what looks like 3 more letters and who more or less look like E or A

this one is on the “filled with [obscured] side but higher up closer to “wizard”

Lastly is a similar one

I thought it was to smudged but the more I looked at it the more it very clearly said “Lucas”

This one is next to “wizard”

If steel wool has said something like this is just a reference to steel wool employees or something (which I could totally see be the case) and I’m actually just looking to far into it then let me know but for now this is just an interesting observation

My personal biggest pet peeve regarding analyses of Belos (obviously aside from “he’s just evil and analyzing him at all means you support his actions” and “he deserves redemption actually”) is that so many people take his hatred of witches completely at face value–as simply being the result of his indoctrination into witch-hunting as a child in Gravesfield, that these are just the beliefs he was raised with and that he never grew to see past his prejudice like Caleb did. But that is such an oversimplification of his character, and it also ignores what is in my opinion the main driving force behind all of his actions: Caleb himself.

Belos doesn’t think all witches are evil because he was raised to be a witch-hunter. He HAS to keep himself convinced that they are, because if the witches are not evil, then he has two realities to face:

  1. Caleb left him of his own free will, not because he was under a spell or led astray by the devil.
  2. Belos murdered his own brother, the only person he ever loved, for nothing.

And these CANNOT be true.

Belos’s need to be the hero who saves humanity from witches is not the reason he killed his brother, it’s the result.

[He] knew he was a different person when drunk. Told that he had behaved wildly the night before, he would become embarrassed and fall back upon a commonplace lie: he had been so drunk last night it seemed only a dream. In fact he clearly remembered whether he had danced or had napped. Still, last night was not today, and that [self] was different from this one. But which of them was the real one he wasn’t at all certain. … The Roman god Janus had two faces, and no one knew which was real. [His] was a similar case.

I was fascinated for only a short time - fascinated with apparel.

Dazai Osamu, “On the Question of Apparel” from Crackling Mountain and Other Stories

"The narrator of [Dazai’s autobiographical story] 'Memories,' it will be recalled had a secret yearning to dress in style. This interest in clothes crops up regularly in Dazai’s writings. Dazai wrote one story entitled 'The Dandy' and began another with a sketch giving the narrator’s thoughts on suicide and dress. Having received some fabric for a summer kimono, the narrator postpones committing suicide until he can wear the new garment." (James O’Brien, Introduction to Dazai’s story “On the Question of Apparel”)

Big fan of characters realizing they don't get to die. They have to live. And grow. And be a person. And deal with shit they thought they'd never have to. And be fucked up about it. I would like more of this. Enough dying for honor or as redemption. It ain't. You're just a corpse. There is no moral value in dirt time.

this is why I love redemption arcs most people don’t seem to realize that living with your mistakes is a hundred times more of a punishment then the most horrible and painful of deaths

For years I would look at posts and questionnaires about neurodivergence that takes about being so focused on something that you forgot to eat and be like, "Couldn't be me. Being hungry is so uncomfortable! Your stomach is growling and cramping? How do you ignore that?"

Then someone informed me that neurotypical people have a whole bunch of "hungry" sensations before they get to that point.....

Yeah, I don't get it either, but apparently this is a Whole Thing.... Like they somehow detect blood sugar dropping and go, "Ooh, time for lil snack!"

See also: there is a feeling of "oh, I need to pee" that happens before "fidgeting around in my seat to finish this thing before running to the bathroom"

I read this and was like, "this can't be real" and then I looked for sources and like--

"This can be very harmful for neurodivergent people, as many neurodivergent people struggle to feel internal cues and bodily sensations, including hunger and fullness. An emphasis on “only eating when hungry” can result in neurodivergent people delaying eating until they are so hungry that they are shaky, highly irritable, or even on the verge of passing out. A focus on “stopping when full” may cause neurodivergent people to overthink every bite they take and scrutinize whether they are truly hungry or truly full.

To modify Intuitive Eating for neurodivergent people, it may be important to focus on eating enough and eating consistently throughout the day, rather than eating according to one’s hunger and fullness cues. Neurodivergent people may need more of a structured meal and snack schedule than neurotypical folks in recovery, as well as some guidelines around a minimum amount of food. This does not make their eating less intuitive or their recovery less real - it is an important way of honouring their body’s needs and unique ways of functioning."
